Slovenija

The winegrower: The Kelhar Family. Region: Bizeljsko, Lower Styria, Slovenia Alc.: 13 % vol. Sweetness: Dry. Vintage: 2018. Volume: 750 ml. Grape variety: 100% Pinot Gris. Soil: Slate, clay and sandstone. Harvest: Hand picking, end of September. Vinification: Maceration takes place for 4 weeks in contact with the skins in a stainless steel container. Gentle compression with a pneumatic press. Maturation 24 months in oak barrels. The wine is unfiltered and a minimum amount of sulfites was added just before bottling. Ageing potential: 2020 - 2028. Characteristics: Hues of pale red as a consequence of extended maceration. Nose receives an elegant balance of red fruits and a hint of wooden bouquet. Taste is rounded, medium strong, with herbal and fruity notes. Food pairings: Carries enough boost to support a decent dish. Food pairing goes also with asparagus-based dishes, poultry and creamy sauces. Serving temperature: 12-16° C.

Slovenija

The winegrower: Edi Simčič Region: Goriška Brda, Slovenia. Alc.: 12.5% vol. Sweetness: Dry. Vintage: 2017 Volume: 750 ml. Grape variety: Rebula. Harvest: Hand Picking. Vinification: Somewhat less new wood (15 to 20%) as with other wines from the Premium Line. Ageing potential: 2020 - 2028. Characteristics: The nose is matured and youthful at the same time. It offers discrete roasted notes and an aroma of yellow fruit. It has a firm, full mouth feel with a longer aftertaste. It also gives us distinct acidity, saltiness and a mineral note, which cleans the mouth. After three or four years and with the development of tertiary aromas, it becomes even more complete and excellent than it was in its youth. Food pairings: The wine goes well with fish and appetizers which do not carry too intensive aromas.

Slovenija

The most classic wine country of Pinot Noir is Burgundy. The variety also came to Brda from there. Although the climate is suitable for growing this variety, it is not very widespread in Brda, as the vine causes a lot of problems for growers. Therefore, only the most persistent decide for it. It is true, however, that the traditionally produced Pinot Noir is the most elegant red wine to drink in all its stages of development. We can boast that we have the oldest Pinot Noir vineyard in Brda. The wine is characterized by a slightly translucent ruby color with a hint of brick hue. There are perceptible variations of the aromas of ripe cherries or even cherries in the liqueur, which turn into a slight note of orange peel. The taste is also recognizable ripe fruit, especially cherries. Finally a gentle peppermint. Perceptibility of gentle, ripe tannins. Extremely balanced and pleasantly soft, with a full body and long sunset, with a pleasant taste of cherry pecans.

Slovenian Wine Constantini Muse Merlot - Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine Region: Slovenia. Sweetness: Dry. Vintage: 2008. Ageing potential: 2017 - 2037. Muse Merlot - Cabernet Sauvignon has the bottle maturing capability of several decades. Over the years of ageing, the rich structure and harmony of aromas gain in complexity and elegance. The wine stays fresh, fullness of taste and vitality thanks to the micro-terroir and the natural production method. A complex, full-bodied wine made from selected grapes of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in terraced vineyards. Muse is a blend that only matures in the best vintages. The wine is dark ruby red in colour. Noble and intense bouquet. Complex aromas of ripe fruits, marasca marmalade, dry cherries, fine spices gradually develops into the leather aromas. The wine feels harmonious, mineral and elegant. A well-structured wine with ripe tannins. Full bodied luxury wine with a pleasant freshness. Long and noble aftertaste.

Slovenija

Red Wine Merlot - Cabernet Sauvignon - Cabernet Franc. Deep, ruby colour with tinges of garnet showing bit of development. Intense on the nose, still quite youthful regardless of age. It shows plenty of ripe dark red and black fruits, nicely knit with scents of maturation in high quality oak barrels. Black cherry, sour cherry, vanilla, a hint of spicy black pepper as well as smoke. With time gentle floral sensations such as violets are coming through. Quite vibrant. Dry on the palate, full bodied. With grippy tannins, plenty of structure with an aim to bring the wine in the second decade of its life in the best vintages this can be extended even to third or fourth decade. Acidities are ripe, quite high. With a rich, intense, complex aroma on the palate which is lasting. With long aftertaste full of fruits and sweet spices like cloves and nutmeg. To be cellared for at least five years after the release and then can be matured for another decade.

Slovenian Red Wine Kortinca 2009, Korenika & Moškon The winegrower: Korenika & Moškon. Region: Istra, Slovenia. Alc.: 14,5 % vol. Sweetness: Dry. Vintage: 2009. Volume: 750 ml. Grape variety: Refošk (Refosco). Vinification: 25 days maceration. Fermentation: inox (stainless still), indigenous yeasts, malolactic fermentation with indigenous bacteria. Maturation: 6years in French oak barrels. Unfiltered. Ageing potential: 2019–2029 
 Characteristics: The color is deep ruby. The bouquet indicates a fully ripened wine and is reminiscent of undergrowth, earth, vanilla, caramel. Dry, strong wine, tannins are completely softened, acids are still abundant. The wine is very fruity, vanilla predominates in the aftertaste, it should be drunk slowly. Food pairings: Good with steak, matured cheeses or by itself. To serve at 16 - 18 °C.

The winegrower: The Sosolič Family. Region: Goriška Brda, Slovenia. Alc.: 11,5 % vol. Sweetness: Dry. Vintage: 2012. Volume: 750 ml. Grape variety: 60% Rebula, 35% Chardonnay, 5% Yellow Muscat. Sparkling wine Virus-7 is produced according to the classic method, maturation time is 3 years. Characteristics: The wine is a gentle golden yellow color, the bubbles are slightly larger and rarer. The bouquet is ripe and reminiscent of hay, dry spices, a bit of bread crust. In the mouth, the wine is dry, of higher acidity, the bubbles are slightly more aggressive, and the foaming is copious. The taste is solid, and the aftertaste runs out of wine fairly quickly. Food pairings: Ideal as aperitif. To serve at 8-10° C.

Slovenian Wine Rose Batic 2019 - Vipava, Slovenia. The winegrower: The Batič Family. Region: Vipava Valley, Slovenia. Alc.: 12,5 % vol. Sweetness: Semi-dry. Vintage: 2019. Volume: 750 ml. Grape variety: 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc. The wine is an intense rose color and clean as a morning dew. Slightly sweeter. First we are surprised by the pure fruity aromas of raspberries, cherries and wild strawberries, in the background we can also notice the nuances of yellow fruit. Due to its rich body, fruitiness and touch of the young moon, the wine works pleasantly and harmoniously in the mouth. It is as intoxicating as youth. Fine freshness is present in the longer aftertaste. Taste unforgettable, like first love.

The winegrower: Korenika & Moškon. Region: Istra, Slovenia. Alc.: 14,5 % vol. Sweetness: Dry. Vintage: 2013. Volume: 750 ml. Grape variety: Malvasia. Vinification: 25 days on skins (maceration), without pressing. Fermentation: inox (stainless still), indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation with indigenous bacteria. Maturation: 12 months on the yeast in oak barrels, total in barrels 54 months. Unfiltered. Ageing potential: 2019–2029 Characteristics: The wine is a deeper golden yellow color with amber hues. The more intense bouquet is fully ripe and offers mostly tertiary notes. Honey, pine resin, balsamic notes, lavender can be detected. In the mouth, the wine is dry, strong-bodied, moderately acidic. Very strong and robust Malvasia, it is quite warm, but not spicy. The taste in the mouth is not long, but intense. Food pairings: Pairs well with any strong-taste dishes and aged cheeses. To serve at 10 - 12 °C.
