Carl Schmidt and his son ran the company extremely successfully from the outset. After just a year, they employed 100 blacksmiths, grinders and labourers. Its close proximity to the city of Cologne is virtually perfect for its extensive bulk production and distribution because Cologne is currently one of the largest and most prosperous trading centres in Germany. This meant that products from CARL SCHMIDT SOHN travelled all around the world from the beginning.
